American Express® is known for its Membership Rewards® program, a leading Credit Card rewards program offering an amazing collection of travel, shopping, dining, and entertainment rewards. It has three tiers of benefits and is available to a range of rewards Credit Cards and Charge Cards. (See explanation below for the difference between Charge Cards and Credit Cards.)
Membership Rewards Express® program offers the core benefits of the program to several rewards Credit Cards, such as Blue from American Express®. You can redeem points for merchandise, gift cards, or Pay with Points to fly on any airline any time.
The standard Membership Rewards® program allows you to transfer points to your favorite frequent flyer program, or redeem points for travel certificates, from car rentals and spas to adventure getaways. It is available only on several American Express Charge Cards, such as Preferred Rewards Green Card and Preferred Rewards Gold Card.
An American Express® Charge Card differs from a typical rewards credit card in that there is no pre-set spending limit, giving you purchasing power that adjusts with your use of the Card. No pre-set spending limit does not mean unlimited spending. Your purchases are approved based on a variety of factors, including spending patterns, your payment history, your credit history, and financial resources known to American Express. Cardmembers must pay the Charge Card balance in full each month.
Membership Rewards First® program boasts a private collection of rewards featuring luxury lifestyle goods and world-class travel from premium brands. It is available only on premium Charge Cards such as The Platinum Card®.
